During the midweek Champions League I found myself noticing the touchline ads for Drink Responsibly (by Carling… or Carlsberg – I can never remember which).
No doubt one day this archive-footage-to-be will engender the same wide-eyed disbelief as those 1950s cigarette ads that contain testimonials by eminent medical practitioners.
Meanwhile I took to wondering if anyone has yet launched a brand called Responsibly. It seems they have – a Canadian beer company, according to this blogger.
In fact, the blogger was fooled – it’s the pesky prohibitionist Canadians up to their tricks. The website, featuring the full Responsibly range of alcoholic beverages, is all about ‘safe’ limits – and not in fact a quirkily named brand engaging in a form of guerrilla marketing.
